On the contrary large tax pools are a sign of mistakes made by management in past.........the good companies have zero tax pools

Large tax pools do indeed indicate prior inefficiencies and "train wrecks" by previous management teams, BUT...they represent valuable tax breaks for future profits... so based on a "snapshot in time" previous investors in these companies got the short end of the stick...While future investors and those companies in acquisition mode "may" be able to capitalize on
