Revenue down 12 percent from year ago even with Kiena ozs. Not good.

From the release. Mr. Duncan Middlemiss, President and CEO commented, “First quarter production of 22,564 ounces was within our expectations. Eagle River grades were slightly below the low end of our guidance, however increased through the quarter, reaching 15.3 g/t in the month of March and we expect to be within guidance for the year. You are correct that the Q1 sales include 1793 ounces from the Bulk sample. But you should remember that those ounces were produced in Q4. Hence WDO had a inventory build in ounces in Q4. Since Bulk sample Q4 ounces were sold in Q1 and the total ounces sold in Q1 are less than what was produced in Q1, that would imply that invetory that existed at the end of Q4 remains and was actually increased ...more

I wouldn't be surprised if WDO didn't high-grade Eagle a bit, a year ago back when the treasury was lower, and it was still a bit uncertain whether the Kiena re-start could be fully internally-funded. Duncan did comment, back then, about how it was nice to have "a jewelry box" (meaning rich parts of the 303 lenses) that you can use when you want to raise cash fast. I'm not ...more
