Serious subject matter now

Chuck Schumer Booker and Wyden just released the news that they will be introducing their bill before the August break. What that means is we won't see it in April as he had originally hoped for.

My take on this is that he does not currently have enough votes for what he wants and it needs the extra time to get the votes in line.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it's just a matter of time.

That explains the price action for the sector.  So SAFE is still in the competes act.  I'll assume he'll take that out.  Oddly, if he could truly water it down, like decrim, states type thing, with safe.  Enough to get Manchin and Az and NH senators on board. Could go reconciliation route.  Only need 51 then.   Still a tall order with Manchin and Biden.   ...more

This sucks. What a disappointment.  Hopefully Safe gets thru on the competes act, and when it goes to conference or reconciliation, it's gets passed. I believe there was one article stating that Pelosi would back up Perlmutter and after being passed 6x already, maybe just maybe it will go thru. I guess my only question is, other than Schumer potentially blocking safe in the competes act ...more

Orrr is it?  Today was a huge day for eco-system balance sheets.  13 stores only open in NJ on the 21st.  There will photos, of lines around the block.  Ter and acreage have two each and acregae need to move its store off the boardwalk and they will have another one.  Ter should a 3rd soon too.  JW from ter is calling for 40m/yr per.  Acreage's top line just ...more

I was just reading about that. From that article you posted about the Safe having a 90day window, and well that Pelosi owes Permutter. Or something to that effect. i was just reading the list of the conference committee ppl and I don't see Permutters name. But I guess its supposed to be as it's his bill.  I was reading that Schumer will not concede, but I mean i don't know ...more

Yp, The gist is, Perlmutter helped Pelosi manitain her speaker role in 2018.  We hear Pelosi agreed to go to bat for SAFE next or the next next....etc.  This bill really is a must pass.  68 yes votes = 18R's. Permutter isnt involved, so we'll see how hard Pelosi fights for it.   Schumer may demand its removed.  We shall out soon enough.

Yup. Read as soon as the session in back, it will be debated on. Let's see with all this fanfare about 4/20 and NJ if it will spark anything. In my mind I was hoping that the CAOA would have been introduced and then the negotiations would begin etc etc, and that Safe would have been struck down in the competes act because Schumner would have reasoned with his bill. But with the delay in ...more

Just read that. So all eyes on the competes bill, if not, then the NDAA again in the lame duck session. In between we will have CAOA thrown in for hype and midterms. I hope Pelosi delivers. If not it's going to be a long summer with lots of erratic posts from me for sure!
Comment by Bullknit101 on Apr 15, 2022 10:53pm
Way too optimistic I'm afraid. There will be no Safe Banking before CAOA and since CAOA is pure political theatre, it will fail but not before midterms. Bottom line, the politicians have been a total let down and likely driven by other interests. Safe is out of Competes Act. It passed the house 6 times before so what's a 7th or 8th time. No legislation this year folks except for medical ...more
