NCS4 Xonarsafe Review

Just for fun I requested a copy of an evaluation conducted earlier this year on a quasi-competitor: Xonarsafe.

This company provides touchless screening that hits exclusively on firearms- no knives (or at least, that is all that was tested in the evaluation). Weapon location determination is "approximate".

While they have a machine learning/AI component, they have few of the other features Pat offers, and do not have as fast of a walk through rate as Pat. They do offer a temperature check of guests as they enter.

They advertise themselves as "faster and more accurate" than conventional metal detectors.

The evaluation was conducted with 3 evaluators instead of six, and only dealt with weapon detection, weapon location, interface and software health.

Xonarsafe aced the gun detection (3.00) and scored 2.67 on location accuracy. The weapons were a S&W Model 99, a Walter PPS and an AR-15 ( no micro compact aluminum jobs). Overall score was 2.93 with very few false positives.

Again- VERY limited scope with only three evaluators. And seriously, who wants a system that just detects guns?

Im wondering if Evolv wanted this kind of limited softball evaluation in order to say they "scored higher" than Pat.

Don't worry about Evolv. Worry about MSG 30% false positive rate with common bulk in pockets. Oh yeah, you should also ask yourself how you feel about claims of 2" knife detection when MSG can't even reliably detect 4-6 knives. What does it tell you about PE? Believable guy, right? :) Right up there with Safety Act label splattered all over promo materials.

They had 76% for the 2-4 inch knives That's pretty good

Says who? "Knives" has been the major topic all year, mind you 2" knives+. Now we see this number and you say it's good? Who said that? JP also makes facepalm-ing assumptions that this was some sort of a ceramic knife and if they had more knives then the score would be better. Huh???
Comment by SomeBody7 on Dec 19, 2021 7:51am
The "fix" and fundamental problem is staring at JP's face the entire video and he just doesn't see it lol. Pat1 simply turned up the dial on sensitivity. Hence, Combined and Phone false positives went up. And no, there's no way to fix this. Physics, simple physics. IMO this situation is clear as day

Says the report and the fact that it does a better job then conventional metal detectors and the fact that evolv can't detect small knives at all.
Comment by SomeBody7 on Dec 19, 2021 8:39am
Where are numbers for conventional metal detector? You said it's a fact, show us. You say Evolv can't detect small knives at all and it's a fact? Show us the numbers. And why are you switching to Evolv anyway? They are selling systems while Pat1 isn't.
Comment by Rick311 on Dec 19, 2021 9:21am
I would point you to an available spec sheet but not even the clients are allowed to read those. Only Peter George and the secret service knows what evolv actually detects LMAO
Comment by SomeBody7 on Dec 19, 2021 9:43am
That's what I thought. You are claiming to know some secret numbers and yet Pat1 just opened up all cards. Don't you see how stupid this sounds? Yes, every manufacturer has numbers and yes, they don't disclose them to public (which is why I was shocked to see Pat1 numbers). But you are claiming to know the would-be outcome of the same test for conventional metal "detector" ...more

every manufacturer except evolv disclose what standards they comply with. Every standard has a set of numbers specified. This is from Garrett pd6500 Meets international airport standards such as TSA, ECAC, STAC, AENA, CJIAC, DFT. Meets additional standards and requirements such as USMS, NIJ-0601.02, NILECJ. Meets Electrical Safety and Compatibility Requirements for CE, FCC, CSA, IEC, ICNIRP, IEEE.

Yep. And this is precisely why there are certs vs. raw numbers for everyone to see. You either pass or fail and bad actors have no idea what the weaknesses are. But Pat1 decided to sell a product with open cards for everyone to see. Hey, look... Detection is weak at higher zones due to short towers. Hey, look... We even show you pictures of knives that we are having issues with. Hey, look... This ...more

From a customer point of view, it's like buying a firewall or antivirus with back holes for hackers described in the user manual.
Comment by Rick311 on Dec 19, 2021 12:05pm
More like buying security equipment that hasn't been tested, approved or certified by anyone other then an online magazine.
Comment by SomeBody7 on Dec 19, 2021 2:02pm
Huh? How's advertising objects that the system cannot reliability detect beneficial to a customer? That's what NDAs are for. By the way, this was by no means any type of cert... In case you didn't know

How are you continually bashing and trying to undermine Pat, but say "Let's see how sales go and if there's traction I'll buy back." Who are you trying to fool?
Comment by SomeBody7 on Dec 20, 2021 6:52am
Money is money. Are you married to this stock? You aren't making any sense. Bashing or cheerleading a stock doesn't steer its movement
Comment by Rob1love on Dec 20, 2021 7:58am
Yet you keep pumping Evolv costing uninformed shareholders alot of money.
Comment by SomeBody7 on Dec 20, 2021 6:42pm
1. Where did I pump Evolv? Haven't mentioned it here in a long time. 2. It's not my fault anyone lost money. I lost money on PTOTF after buying Nero's pumps. I'm not blaming him for that.

Expect evolv to have a similar specs as xonar, no knives or small guns etc.
