It's nave to think having a drink with some of the locals is all it takes when its the Fijian government who actually calls the tune.
Large open pit mines are likely a thing of the past in Fiji, as the Namosi project seems to show.
On the other hand, high grade underground mining like LION One Metals, leaves a relatively small footprint that allows reclamation of the land when finished.
Besides, a company needs to make important discoveries and find mineable ore before they concern themselves with anything else, and awestruck hasn't managed that part and it appears they're running out of time .
