A few questions about the DOD sample
Good Afternoon People,
We got a sun break today, but the wind is in the southwest and strong enough to ring the wind chines. So the rain is coming. More than likely for the whole weekend.
Personly I think that Rapid is on to something but lets put on our Shellock Holmes hats and think a minute.
What does DOD want for REEs?
Ans: To have a steady supply of REEs that is close(defenable) and pure enough to make the weapon systems that DOD needs.
There are mines in the US that have REEs as a byproduct, in the range of 10 to 100 tons per year. That is not large enough supply for DOD. There are only two mines, currently, that produce enough REEs for DOD that would be Mountain Pass and the Vital Metals mine in Canada. We know from listening to Pat that Ucore best concertrate for separation is from an ionic clay concertrate from the far east (not China) and South American but DOD sample is not ionic clay. It is a mixed REEs concertrate from ore. So the big question is the DOD sample from Mountain Pass?
To me this makes the most sense. I worked in DOD supply on and off for about three years total. Large enough supply of REEs inside the cont. US. Ucore's SMC on leased federal land. Yes, lots of strings to pull.

Until RSX gets to 99.8% purity, DOD won't care right now, 98.5 Not close to good enough they may not be able to get there economically
