What is High Close?

High close is a trading strategy used right before the market closes for stock price manipulation. Traders attempt to make small trades at high prices during the last few minutes before the market is closed to leave an impression that the stock’s performed well. The high close strategy’s been criticized for its market manipulation purpose, and the abuse of the strategy can lead to legal issues.

Dude, as YOU just pointed out, there were 50,100 share traded in the last minute. I don't think this fits the "high close" strategy you are talking about. Also, most trades here (and probably most venture stocks) are small trades. Just because it happens at the end of the day, wouldn't mean that it was a "high close". btw, I don't disagree that this happens with

Is the buyer really cibc, or are they buying on behalf of someone else, how can anyone know?

Brokerage houses show trades coming through but they do not disclose who is buying.  Not even the company itself knows who holds shares in their company unless the buyer holds more than 5% of the shares of that company which must be revealed via SEC fillings. U
