Governments need to fast track or get left behind

Still, Canadian industry groups have welcomed the deputy prime minister’s recent comments, urging the government to use the tools at its disposal to move critical minerals and energy projects forward more quickly.

why not just say nickel projects in Timmins lol

“There are definitely ways to improve the timeliness and efficiency of federal project reviews and we’re keen to see the government use the tools they have more effectively,” said Pierre Gratton, president of the Mining Association of Canada, citing the Ring of Fire project in northern Ontario, as well as nickel projects near Sudbury and copper projects in B.C. such as the joint Teck Resources-Newmont Corporation Galore Creek Mine as examples.

Idle, with the federal government attracting and pushing forward all of these battery projects it would be prudent to fastract the battery metal mine permits. The new battery facilities will be set up and running sooner then later and if we don't have enough product to feed into them then it would be pointless to even build them. I would expect the federal and provincial governments ...more

youbet...there's only way for nickel price to go in short demand ...To the moon ..in Oct 2005 nickel was 12,000 a ton and had a straight rise to 49,000 a ton by April 2007 only to make it's way back down to 12,000 a ton in Nov 2009 and another run up to 29,000 a ton up until  Feb 2011 ...Now there has been no new demand as the present EV demand that will infiltrate the nickel market ...more

We already have. Meanwhile in other news, the Liberals were dithering on LNG infrastructure since they day they were elected, because it's 2015 and burning fossil fuels is bad (even though it's a lot cleaner than COAL). Fast forward to 2022 when the Chancelor of Germany comes to Canada looking for LNG to replace Russian Natural Gas and Trudope says "NO". Alberta during the PET ...more

Missed opportunity of the century PCGuy: Canada missed revenues in the 100s of billions!  Enough to build multiple new hospitals every year.  This is why despite all of our energy and natural resources Canada is not as prosperous as Saudi Arabia. Yet, we send Germany back empty handed and they and Europe are stuck buying Russian gas so that they can fund their war machine while Canada ...more

LNG prices tanked in 2015 and onward which is why most major oil companies backed out of their deals. Kitimat is still not up and running and is 100 percent over budget. It's called economics. By the time they decide to build more then Putin will be dead, and the gas will flow again sinking LNG prices once again. All IMHO of course.

Exactly Endzone.  So all this talk of nickel shortages is resulting increased investment just like we saw with natural gas.  That results in an over supply of nickel and then everything goes down so you can't wait too long to sell CNC.   Another high grade nickel development. https://thewest.com.au/business/public-companies/estrella-upgrades-nickel-resource-presses-ahead ...more
