Northvolt CATL rumors

Northvolt CATL rumorsApparently there have been talks between Northvolt and CATL since last summer (see link below), although the article indicates it is unlikely there will be a financial investment by CATL to bail out Northvolt's European operations. Northvolt would have been the most logical partner for CRE in Quebec, in my opinion; however, with the current situation Northvolt is certainly not in a position to provide funding for CRE. CATL indicated  “There were talks about whether we could help Northvolt with production and technology. It was about a licence model, like the one we have with Ford,” the CATL co-founder is quoted as saying. CATL indicated that a licensing agreement with Northvolt may have been possible had the discussions begun a year or two earlier (ie. before their financial woes).

With government funding in place for Northvolt in Quebec, perhaps a licensing agreement with CATL would give them them the credibility to raise the financing required to complete the project as well as to have a little extra to partner with CRE. This is just my own thought to add to the rumor mill, but Northvolt's Quebec project is apparently still proceeding and at this point they certainly don't look like they are in a position to carry it through on their own.

Hoping for a little light at the end of the tunnel!
