A good start on Witwatersrand Geology

A good start on Witwatersrand GeologyAfter a long delay, Cosigo is returning to the field, in this case in Colombia with a gold system that is as close in geology as you can get to the fabulous Witwatersrand Basin in South Africa. The writer has helped with the $500,000 private placement, which is enough to get the drilling started. With success, the CSG discovery has the potential for a global play. And a rising market would provide funding for an aggressive program with additional drills.

Work in the field right now involves rejuvenating the camp and tuning up the machinery, including the drill. The Geology team has decided to switch the drill from its RC capability over to a Core capability. This is underway and some tuning up of the machinery included drilling into the shallower strata. This has resulted in the discovery, on top of the ancient bedrock, of a conglomerate layer. Otherwise not known.

The property has attracted the attention of consulting geologists in the States and South Africa. Geologists in the latter, have been entering all the data into a digital map, from which they will direct the drilling program.

And in the original Wits system good grades of gold have been hosted by the conglomerate strata.

Some channel samples of conglomerate outcrops and some of the short hole cores are being scanned for uploading to the geological data room. Physically, they are enroute to Vancouver for assaying. “Assaying” will be efficiently done with a new process which is being tested successfully elsewhere (in Australia for example). This allows for full reading of the whole length of sample, an ideal procedure for nuggety intercepts.

With some 20 kms of gold-bearing reef to drill, the program could run for a couple of years.

Initial drilling success would prompt a major program.
