Vazquez, who has supported the company since 2020 through OreQuest Consultants Ltd., brings over 14 years of international exploration experience, spanning epithermal, porphyry, orogenic, and intrusion-related systems across Mexico, the UK, and Finland.
Chairman and CEO Chris Wright described Vazquez’s leadership as a key component in executing the company’s next phase of growth, emphasizing his technical acumen and ability to guide complex field programs.
The appointment comes amid aggressive exploration activity at Defiance’s two flagship assets
Zacatecas Silver Project – Expanding on Historic District-Scale Potential
Located in Mexico’s premier silver belt, the Zacatecas Project includes both the Lucita and San Acacio properties. San Acacio, part of the prolific Veta Grande system, has produced over 150Moz Ag historically. More than 25,000m of drilling has been completed since 2014, with a new NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate targeted for release this year.
Lucita South’s initial 4,200m drill program returned standout intercepts, including assays up to 3,260 g/t silver, while Lucita North shows high-grade polymetallic potential across multiple mapped structures.
Tepal Gold-Copper Project – Resource Update and Deeper Targets
In Michoacn, Defiance holds 100% of the Tepal Au-Cu project and has completed a new mineral resource estimate (January 2025), which includes:
-
Measured & Indicated: 111.67Mt grading 0.26 g/t Au (926,000 oz), 0.19% Cu (473.86 Mlb), and 1.55 g/t Ag (5.58Moz)
-
Inferred: 124.36Mt grading 0.25 g/t Au (985,000 oz), 0.16% Cu (451 Mlb), and 1.46 g/t Ag (5.83Moz)
Current exploration is targeting high-grade Au-Cu zones at depth in the South Zone, building on intercepts such as 188m of 1.04 g/t Au and 0.38% Cu. The property has seen over C$27M in investment and 60,000 mts of drilling to date. It also benefits from strong infrastructure, including access to 50MW of power, nearby paved roads, and proximity to port facilities.
With district-scale silver targets in Zacatecas and a sizeable gold-copper resource at Tepal, Defiance Silver is positioning itself as a technically driven explorer in two of Mexico’s most geologically endowed regions. The addition of Armando Vazquez as VP Operations underscores the company’s focus on disciplined exploration and resource growth, guided by an experienced leadership team and supported by a robust pipeline of drill-ready targets
