Brine reinjection volume

Everything looks promising for E3 and it's share holders. I'm all in on this one. There is one question that I'm sure one of you fully informed stock holders can answer.  At 75 mg/L and, say 95% recovery rate, has anyone calculated the volume  of  processed brine that will need to be reinjected per metric ton of lithium? According to my quick and dirty calculation, it looks like around 13k m3 or 81.5k barrels of processed brine reinjection per metric ton of lithium. Then extrapolate that to 20k tons per year. Also I'm wondering how much pressure (horsepower requirement) will be required to push the spent brine into the formation? I'm sure E3 has all of this this covered, but I have not seen it mentioned.
Did I miss something somewhere...?

Can't answer in scientific terms, but basically the volume that must be reinjected is 'all of it'.  If they can pump it out, they can pump it back. This is Alberta- if there is one thing we know, it's moving fluids through pipes.

E3 will also most likely partner with an industry that will take some of the cleaned-up brine, reducing reinjection needs...but maintaining pressures, etc...

Yes sir, I have no doubt Alberta certainly has the expertise to reinject produced brine. I'm sure that pumps, piping and experienced operators are readily available. This will require a fleet of pumps and piping along with gobs of horsepower. It will be expensive but certainly not a show stopper.   GLTA

Overdrawn, I have some familiarity with the Leduc formation from my days in the oil patch (now retired) The Leduc formation is blessed with one of the highest porosity/permeabilities of any formations in the world. That means it can support extremely high fluid withdrawal rates (production) as well as injection rates. At one point I worked in the oilfield waste business and we would try to ...more

If you check back one of ETL's news releases stated that the processed fluid would be injected back into the ground a minimum of 15 k/m away from extraction sites. UNKLAL

Yajne, that is really good news about the Leduc field and it's ability to accept a large volume injection program. You're right about this formation being blessed. I'm also a retired oilfield hand, 26 years with XOM. One thing for sure is that ExxonMobil and I'm sure Imperial, will study a project like this from every angle until it bleeds! Yes, they have deep pockets, but I'm ...more
