Per the JICC/ACP industry roadmap released Sept 2020, The current AI (8110) coupon format type will begin a sunset process when a significant majority (approximately 70-75%) of retailers are AI (8112) compatible.

The specifications for AI (8112) were approved in April 2020.

No fraud risks have been identified to date, nor are any expected as this solution scales across the industry. AI (8112) coupons deposited into the Positive Offer File are serialized and single use. Upon its first redemption, a coupon will be dead and no longer available for redemption.

We have completed testing and several pilots, and are currently in the open connectivity phase.

The timing of the setup process depends on several factors including your organization’s processes and your partners. You can create your manufacturer account today and begin the process.

Now with the background proceses from the Coupon Bureau in place, the migration to the 8112 coupons will begin.  This means FOBI will start to get active with news releases once again.   Some of these will be the contracts we've been waiting for.  Just my opinion of course.

I am liking your opinion. I would have to agree with your assumptions. They sound right on the mark. Fobi is well positioned in this digitization on the coupon industry. You tie digital wallets into that scenario, it's money on money. Good call.

I think Sobey's were part of the Coupon Bureau's pilot testing which means they could be first in line of a series of releases.  This would explain the timeline with this pilot.   Once a big player makes a formal announcement the flood gates will open.
