Trump stated the water was not available for fire fighting due to the water being held in the delta, (outright lie).
Trump said they weren't releasing the water due to the smelt (more BS)
The reality is, as all this fresh water is being removed from the system there are two huge issues.
One is the fresh water pressure heading towards the ocean prevents salt water from pushing inland to the fresh water basin. Rising salinity would make this water (in its entirety useless for anybody).
The second is as they are continously over pumping ground water the land is subsiding, the canals that the water follows through don't work and land the land can't be farmed and residences are flooded.
It has taken decades to figure this all out and just as long to "try" and properly implement the system for benefit of everyone.
Now with a swipe of a sharpie the house will collapse.
Will the smelt die?
Yes it will, and so will the California lifestyle.
