Greenbriar Sustainable Living Inc > A list of available land...

A list of available land...

In response to Hubbie87, and i guess Jeff as well, apparently PREPA holds a list of available land with interconnection points. In this Jan 11th document HERE  PREPA lays out their argument (on pages 4 through 6) to PREB for keeping it confidential.

In this Jan 13th document found HERE  PREB partially agreed with this request, allowing PREPA to keep "the four (4) files that contain information identifying locations of preferred sites for the interconnection of renewable and battery energy storage resources" under lock and key. But PREB forced them to provide a map of Puerto Rico that lists the total number of  preferred interconnection locations availabe per region, which total 47. This map is on page 3 of that same document.

Also during the last PREPA meeting they said there has been a lot of interest by developers in the new 1000mw RFP. But remember, any renewable project can apply, wind, solar, hydro etc.

I don't mean to step on your toes Jeff, but this is a discussion board and I'm just replying with the little bit of info that I have. My boots obviously aren't on the ground like yours.

whoami2u ... The map shows no detail and extremely vague.  Siemens performed a studay several years ago.  Anything above 800 MW will require an extensive rebuild of the entire transmission and distribution system, which is the reason the battery storage aspect acts as a peak shaving load leveling ancilliary service PREPA badly needs outside of a transmission rebuild beyond the 1000MW ...more

The point of my response is that PREPA is acting like there will be a land rush if their 4 files full of municipalities, that each contain a number of interconnection sites per municipality, is ever released. And yes, we all know to take PREPA's word with a grain of salt. I'm just stating their side of the story. They obviously believe that there's enough real estate to fill 6 tranches ...more

whoami2u ... You are completely missing the point and from your responses I can tell you have no experience in utility scale power generation - at all.  When I refer to land it includes the geography, geomorphology, permitting ability of the site, and finally transmission access and available capacity.  Again, there will not be more than 800 MW of capacity for the next 5 to 10 years ...more

Jeff.... we all have our areas of expertise and thank goodness your able to school me in utility scale power generation. If not we'd have a problem. I'm an investor because of your expertise and the expertise of those on your team. This is exactly the type of explanation that investors need to hear to back up the statement of "there is no more land available" for power generation ...more

Who:This is a prime example of another intellectual demonstration of futility.Whatever Jeff does is the way this will go and learned presentations of your knowledge of the situation get us nowhere except to confuse those with less interest in such exercises. Please get another hobby. Also while I am chastising other  Bullboarders, this is for SBJ:Remember this is the middle of lent,a time ...more

I'm tired of US politics added to boards, yes 9Islucky EARTH IS FLAT ALSO for you!!!!!
Comment by 9Islucky on Mar 11, 2021 9:14am
You tire easily, since I couldn't find another political comment on the board.I just wanted to say what I said ,not to start a conversation but to just say it publicly because it made me feel good, which at my age is a rarity. But if you want to debate Canadian politics, I would be glad to discuss your China loving,Covid panicking, abortion promoting government.

It is clear you have some loose wires in there. Perhaps it's time for you to get off the internet.

9s you are the least relevant poster here since kingfisher. wmi2u provides context and soundboarding that Big JC would rather not acknowledge as he is like Trump and prefers to live in his bubble of "truths", "absolutes' and "formalities. Thank Buddha whmi2u volunteers his time and resources here as it provides context and contrast to the cult of Jeff that some subscribe to ...more

whoami2u ... Yes, as a safety we have enrolled in the RFP portal and we will, again as a safety, make a formal submission to the RFP for up to 320MWdc - 160MWac. In the meantime many fronts are on the 593MW decision being overturned.  (US Congress, PR Congress, Governor, and all the 14 other projects with their respective unified and individual lawyers and lobbyist) Best JEFF CIACHURSKI ...more

Jeff... Knowing that you are taking precautions and submitting Montalva to the RFP is VERY reassuring. Thank you. I hope others think so as well and we have seen the lows for the year. Keep the updates coming!

Jeff, I greatly appreciate your detailed explanation of of the constraints facing utility scale renewable power projects.  As the point person for a landowner in New England who is buying and leasing land for commercial solar projects at all stages from built to under agreement, I can affirm that everything you wrote makes complete sense to me.  In New England, a potential solar site ...more

Thank you Schoen for understanding the process.  Montalva will get build at worst through the RFP or sooner through the reversal of the 593MW.   Puerto Rico has a very fragile grid and we picked our site 12 years ago because of the coincidence of the highest solar radiation and insolation plus we are on the 115kv pathway transecting our property and the connected to the 230kv system ...more

Schoen/Jeff... great insight. Thanks for sharing. We need more posts like Schoen's to help others, myself included, understand the true difficulty of getting a project to the point where Montalva is at. It helps investors see the value in the project instead of focusing on the daily flucuations of the share price. I too like when Jeff explains the technical aspects of Montalva and the process ...more

Jeff and whoamI2u, thank you for the support.  I greatly appreciate your sharing the facts as shareholders try to navigate the many twists and turns here! If they stick to the current RFP plan's timetable, I expect Montalva will get the green light by October at the latest.  I haven't seen anything to sway me from my belief that this is the best solar project in PR.    ...more

As a dude that doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to Solar, reading Jeff and other's posts is really helpful in understanding how some of this stuff works. All I can say is that Jeff clearly has a plan in mind in order to get Montalva built!
