There are a few companies I believe could acquire Gatekeeper at some point in the future. Hopefully much rather later than sooner but here are my candidates:
1) Quarterhill: They are in the intellectual property and intelligent transportation systems industry. They are listed on the tsx with a market cap of about $348 million.
2) Constellation software: These guys basically acquire everybody in the software space and have been very successful at doing that. Through Volaris which owns Modaxo, they are involved in the people transportation and parking lot management business. As a serial acquirer, they can acquire Gatekeeper and integrate them with Volaris or as a stand alone company.
3) Motorola Solutions : Motorola has the dominant position in the public safety space with an 80% market share. In early 2018, they acquired Avigilon which is another Vancouver based surveillance company with patented products for about $1 billion. Avigilon had annual sales of about 400 million at the time of acquisition.
4) Johnson controls International: They provide solutions for public safety, facilities and asset management. We do know from a past interview with Gatekeepers ceo Doug Dyment that Johnson Controls lost out on the Septa deal. As a competitor, and a much larger company, there is always a chance that Johnson Controls can make an offer to Gatekeeper to eliminate a future competitor.
Anyway, these are my choices for now. If anyone wishes to add to this or has an opinion please feel free to add to this.
