You may be right, however: 1. The Vetas spinco (if it happens) and CBJ do look like natural partners with promising prospects. 2. EB obviously wanted a foot in the Vetas camp since a deal only involving Calif would have been more simple to arrange. 3. If EB has no short term interest in CBJ, then he may have to deal with Beatty in the longer term

I agree Oakarbor. The market cap of EOM is currently only $85 million and their total gold resource is something like 15M ounces. Batista will bring a lot of clout to the government and once given assurances that the region will be labelled non-paramo, he will consolidate the whole mountain.

I believe Beatty's position (10%) in Ventana was instrumental in EB having to increase the Ventana offer. EB position in Vetas Spin Co could be payback to RB, if RB wants to purchase Vetas. RB's pockets are not as deep as EB's. I personally think EB's position in Vetas will result in Vetas Spin Co buying CBJ. Then EB will buy Vetas for basically peanuts.
