Press release
Press releaseIn the standard porphyry model there is an upwelling of highly acidic waters and gases above the porphyry intrusion. These acidic media convert the prexexisting rocks to a mixture of Quartz (SiO2), Alunite/Jarosite K(Al,Fe)3(SO4)2(OH)6 and clay (advanced argillic alteration). The fact that they have found this advanced argillic alteration (AAA) and lots of it is good news. On the other hand it implies that the target porphyry is deep down which is bad news.
Advanced argillic alteration (AAA) can host large, low grade gold-silver deposits truncated by epithermal ore veins so it is not worthless.
They are seeing a lot of this AAA on their property implying that the southern part of the Vicuna belt is poorly eroded and the porphyries are deep down. What does this mean for economics? Filo's deposit is also deep down so I'm not going to say anything.
