Super pit in the making?

Massive hit again, and much more drilling to be done. Can one imagine the implications of a pit from the Keats to the Lotto zones, the scale of which would be incredible. Even if the overall average was only 2 or 3 grams per ton ,how many tons could such a pit contain ? Kirkland Lake is printing money with their Detour pit at less than a gram per ton. These are the magic holes between the Keats and Lotto we have been hoping and waiting for. What a fun ride. GLTAL

There is no super pit and that is years pre-mature. We have no idea on the exact mining method and that is not even being contemplated by NFG as of today. NFG's goal is to define multiple zones of high grade gold and eventually determine a gold resource (likely by zone) and then a global resource.  That is certain of what is happening now.  There are many mining methods which could ...more

The super pit in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, aka The Golden Mile was once the most expensive real estate in the world. It has been mined since the early 1800's starting with pick and shovel now employing modern mining methods It produces close to 500,000 ounces a year and will be around till at least 2035. Global, the two biggest mines in the world in 2021 in terms of total ounces produced   are both open-pit (Olypmpiada in Russia and the Newmont / Barrick joint venture Pueblo Viejo in the Dominican Republic) with AISCs of 532 and 661 respectively. Fosterville is ranked 10th in terms of ounces produced (though I believe the reserves at Fosterville are being significantly  depleted ...more

Sorry, those numbers in my previous post are 2020 numbers - the article itself was published in April 2021 - obviously we don't know what the 2021 numbers will be...
