Safe?  You will have to do your own math, but some believe that it is trading under NAV right now.
This REIT has sold large portions of its portfolio.  If the REIT is wound up and there is money left over this could provide capital gains.  If they don't wind it up and there is no distribution, is it worth holding?  At this point it is in a holding pattern.  
There is no monthly distribution.
Yes, you can trade it like any other stock.
