When Suresh joined Poet, it was hellbent on trying to finish a monolithic device using GaAs as the solution. We all know about the 4th pin issue and despite that the industry wanted to stay in silicion and InP solutions.
One year ago, the financing market for high risk penny stocks was drying up due to the large increases in US interest rates. That drew away a lot of capital to fund start ups. Poet was fortunate to keep investment bankers interested while they rode along with small financings with the goal of working towards the kinds of financings they needed. Whe since early 2024 has this become so much easier for Poet? What changed? Well, the chatter at agoracom.com (Adora) mentioned that Poet has essentially developed monolithic device with its Interposer. "
"EML is a monolithic InP device with combines DFB laser and modulator (plus an amplifier) etc. etc.". So with that being said, it seems Poet has been able to supply what the industry told Suresh way back in the 2015-16 era. They want a monolithic decvice. Now that makes me understand about Poet, its potential, and presumably expected robust market capitalization chatter. Is this th real this time folks? Has Suresh successfully naviagated all the crocodiles and alligators around financings, and the demands of vcry large customers driving Poet to pivot and adapt (customize) its Interposer to the needs of its customers? The growing healthy pipeline of Poet's customers and the kind that they are is another validation.
Basically, FJ from Adora posted this: "What does Suresh mean by groundbreaking and turning the (AI) world upside down? Simply stated an EML is a monolithic InP device which combines a DFB laser and a modulator (plus an amplifier). This integration requires a chip with common epitaxial layers, a so-called identical-layer approach . This is where POET comes into play. The EML is a discrete component with its own monolithic material set and POET excels at 3d integration of flip chips, in whatever material sets provide the best performance. "
Now does that make a lot more sense, readers?
