Statements from the EAGE Conference with Scot Evans

One of the seven Mods from Discord Server, Vladislav, did pay the 300€ and attended that virtual confernce:

gestern um 11:39 Uhr

@everyone the EAGE event has started. Unfortunately, representative of Namibian Ministry of Mines and Energy Maggy Shino couldn't participate herself in person. So the slides were presented by moderator, with quite high-level statements. Key takeaway is that Namibia sees itself as next O&G frontier, given its favorable petroleum regime, geology and number of high potential prospects both offshore (Orange and Walvis basins with proven working petroleum system) and onshore (Kavango) , to be drilled this year. Scott Evans presentation is later today, I will keep this community updated.

gestern um 11:41 Uhr

I don't. The event is officially recorded by EAGE, and will be made available next week. Whenever I will receive something - will share here. But trust me, not much info on these slides :)

gestern um 13:24 Uhr

Sure there wouldn't be any news release or statement. But there might be an update on "how are we doing" and maybe something new on operational plans. But certainly not drilling results.
Now Peter Elliott of NVentures is talking about discovery prospects across the region. It is encouraging that there are quite many of them around, meaning geology is good. But still proves nothing about our basin, of course.

gestern um 14:06 Uhr

There is a number of prospects being driller by various majors offshore.

gestern um 15:24 Uhr

@everyone Scot Evans presentation at EAGE event today was quite technical, mostly focused on the geology of the area and their thinking when evaluating potential of the basin. Mostly reiterated through what was disclosed previously about aeromag survey, 3 well locations, purpose of those drills and their expectations. Went quite in detail about overall African continent geology, demonstrating why Kavango is a wonderful prospect to find sweetest oil ever discovered (not exactly his words, but couldn't resist). Key takeaways: - very direct statement was that they are aiming to prove the basin, and have ground for developing the area further, not hit oil now - reiterated on environmental stuff, saying that they are using organic drilling mud, and all actions are done with approval of Namibian authorities - not mentioned anything on operational update (sorry guys) There might be some additional Q&A now. I will also share slide deck once that becomes available.

gestern um 15:30 Uhr

Encouraging. But we shouldn't expect oil fountains soon, it will be a long and lucrative journey with multiple development phases. If course, unless the basin is not just empty sand..

gestern um 15:37 Uhr

@everyone He got asked why pit at 6-2 well is not lined. Short answer: more expensive organic mud is used, which is not environmentally harmful. Allegedly after drilling it can be used as fertlizer. Also, someone asked about drilling progress. Obviously Scot didn't mention anything about how far did they go so far, but confirmed drilling in progress.

gestern um 15:38 Uhr

Yes. And I think it was exactly what was expected. But still, quite interesting technical details on the geology presented (at least for me as non-specialist)

gestern um 15:39 Uhr

so they started drilling second well>?

gestern um 15:40 Uhr

Don't know, but given that initially 45 days were planned for first well (so roughly 25th Feb), I believe not.
15:40
And he sounded not in a rush with that allowing more time for proper analysis.

gestern um 16:00 Uhr

Any word on 2d permit vlad?

gestern um 16:07 Uhr

No. 2d wasnt discussed at all. But again, deadline for that hasn't passed yet

gestern um 22:00 Uhr

Exactly. Our time is now. Finally. These P/E of 100+ are unsustainable
