Preparing for Production at Nazareno Silver & Gold Mine Preparing for Production at the Nazareno Silver & Gold Mine - Sierra Madre (SM.v SMDRF)
Earlier this week, Sierra Madre (SM.v SMDRF) announced that underground development has begun at the Nazareno silver-gold mine within its La Guitarra complex in Estado de Mexico.
To date, over 700 tonnes of mineralized material, not included in the 2023 resource estimate, have already been delivered to the Guitarra plant.
Early reconciliation shows production grades running 40% higher for silver and 30% higher for gold than the surrounding resource model.
CEO Alex Langer highlighted that Nazareno is expected to be a major contributor to output as Sierra Madre advances plans to more than double plant capacity to 1,000 t/d by Q3 2027, stating:
"We are excited to be opening a third mining center at La Guitarra, less than a year after achieving commercial production at our first mine within the complex. We expect Nazareno to be a significant contributor to silver and gold production as we advance our fully funded plant expansion plans, which would more than double capacity from current 500 t/d levels by Q3 2027."
Development blasting and mapping revealed several converging veins forming a zone up to 8 meters wide.
Current work includes driving along this structure to evaluate potential for long hole mining.
To support development, SM has purchased a portable Ingertrol Sandy 50 drill rig capable of both underground and surface drilling, which will help lower costs by reducing the need for parallel development drives.
Drilling is being planned for both the Nazareno veins and the central Guitarra mine area, targeting closely spaced silver-gold vein sets.
