Hate them or not, but I believe they are necessary in a free market. Naked shorting on the other hand should be illegal. Absolutely without question. Anon selling should also be illegal. Everything should be transparent, long or short.

Honest shorts do serve a function, but most shorts are not honest or transparent and the regulators do nothing to hold them to account. Discussion for another day.
