Translink selected NovaBus, not Grande West

BUS has not been selected by the local transit company. Metro Vancouver's transit placed an order for 15 electric busses with NovaBus. "TransLink bringing 15 more electric buses to Metro Vancouver roads - NEWS 1130" https://www.citynews1130.com/2021/01/26/translink-15-more-electric-buses/amp/

Keep in mind this order is for larger busses on higher volume routes which grande west doesnt make; per my earlier post referencing this stuff there is supposed to be another announcement later this week. Not sure if that announcement is announcing the availability of funds and an RFP or if they are announcing the actual contracts...based on the link it sounds more former than later and also that ...more

And I made the mistake of posting that BUS didn't get this contract but then realized it's not really their market...upcoming announcements from BC Transit should be and if they miss out on those my little faith in management is gone.

Why would BC transit waste money buying GWT's buses? Just because they are built in their backyard? lol I wouldn't be surprised to see an order go to Proterra, BYD, or Nova. What city is going to waste tax dollars on lower capacity buses? It doesn't make sense. I could see them buying a few, but the main order will be 40' buses.

NovaBus busses seem to be normal size to me. Check out the link. There are pictures and maybe video

Grande West are not normal size; they are smaller . I guess you haven't done any research...

Show us the specs and let compare. Too bad TransLink did NOT select BUS to deliver the busses.

Grande west probably did not even bid on that contract as the normal busses are 40 feet long and grande west doesn't make those.

lol Grande West should have chopped up buses and glued them together to win this bid? you have nothing better to do?

Perhaps GWT execs should have included a full-size model that can compete with other companies producing full-sized EV buses? Why exclude yourself from what comprises the majority of transit vehicles? I've never seen a 25' bus in any city I've visited, well, 25' double-decker, but not a short bus. Perhaps they are used for shorter, suburban routes? I have my doubts.  How much ...more

No surprise there. The alternative would be to purchase approx 5 more 25' buses to make up for the loss in seating? Are cities going to revise their runs to suit a shorter model bus? I get the idea behind off peak runs or smaller towns, but why would anyone buy a separate bus for off-peak hours? It amounts to more buses, more space for charging, and more maintenance.  Plus, why would a ...more
