Dr. Gene Shelp, CEO said, “During the past year, Current Water has leveraged its technical endowment into pursuing new markets and business opportunities. One of the most exciting opportunities is “green hydrogen”. The company’s goal is to convert costly municipal wastewater treatment facilities into profit centers by converting the ammonia into environmentally friendly nitrogen gas and pure, fuel cell grade, hydrogen gas. Due to the ubiquity of wastewater treatment plants around the globe, our vision is to convert these facilities into energy storage centers − vital components in the future electrical grid.

These locally-created energy storage centers would facilitate the transition of municipal fleets from conventional internal combustion engine vehicles to more efficient hydrogen-powered, fuel-cell electric vehicles. In contrast to conventional internal combustion engines, fuel cell electric vehicles do not generate exhaust pollutants, and therefore can dramatically improve the poor atmospheric conditions plaguing major cities globally.”

Will it be material to convert new wastewater customers to WATR.V?
Seems like an alliance will be needed. Timing seems good.

Yawn.....more no revenue generating wall paper for the conference room wall, we need revenue now, where are all the Pumptronics sales touted earlier in the year? Another PP / share dilution round coming soon I fear.

Don't let the title and misleading wording fool you.  This is still just a Pilot Test, that MAY lead to 'near term' sales.  A phrase we have seen many times in past PRs.  It will be at least a year before. we see any sales.

Better than nothing, no? Let's see if there's a follow up sale before a year from now.  :)

Absolutely, the challenge isn't so much the AmmEL technology & the demonstartion trial as it's the commercial execution and follow on revenues. Commercial execution has been CWTI's achilles heal for many, many years.

Right but these guys won't have many more chances at doing this and they know it. Its a matter of legacy at this point. We've both been here long enough to know this. Let's see how it goes.

Jumping onto the H2 bandwagon.  This idea of recovering H2 from industrial electrolysis processes has been around for at least 30 years.  There are major challenges with capturing and purifying the H2 gas. I don't know if this could be considered Gree Hydrogen if you are using power from the grid.  Electrolysis of ammonia uses a huge amount of power.  At best, you could ...more

Ok. What about Ballard or Bloom Energy? :)

Cheers. This is also interesting. https://www.utilitydive.com/news/developers-enter-largest-green-hydrogen-ppa-in-us-with-345-mw-of-wind-to-po/603366/? To ensure their hydrogen is carbon-free, Shrestha said, Plug opted to use electrolysis — splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity — to produce hydrogen instead of extracting the fuel from carbon-based resources. While some have ...more

The focus on green hydrogen and green ammonia is heating up. Generating it from ammonia extracted wastewater plants could be a big market.   "Our patent pending AmmEl-H2 technology generates hydrogen gas while simultaneously removing toxic ammonia from wastewater. This process differs from traditional electrolyzers that are operated for the sole purpose of producing hydrogen gas ...more
