Glacier Media Inc.(TSX: T.GVC,
Stock Forum) is contracting out its ad production at a number of its publications in British Columbia.
Rob Munro, vice-president of the Media Union of B.C., said Thursday the union received noticed earlier this week about 15 jobs being eliminated at the Abbotsford Times, Surrey Now, Burnaby Now, Coquitlam Now and New Westminster Record,
the company said in a press release.
The layoffs are effective as of Dec. 13.
Five non-unionized workers will also be let go from the Kamloops Daily News.
Munro said ad production for the publications will be moved to Affinity Express, a subsidiary of the Ayala Corp, a Philippines-based company with offices in Manila and Pune, India.
A spokesperson from Glacier Media could not immediately be reached.
