Small cap results digest: Acadian Timber (T.ADN) grows, Taseko Mines (T.TKO) digs in and Capstone Mi

Acadian Timber (T.ADN, StockForum) released third quarter results with net sales for the quarter topping out at $18.8 million based on a sales volume of 343,000 cubic metres and beating 2012's matching quarter totals by $1.2 million or 7%. EBITDA was $3.8 million, dropping $0.6 million from 2012 Q3, with adjusted EBITDA margin also falling to 20% from 25% reported in for the matching period in 2012.

Uniserve Communications (V.USS, StockForum) opens books on quarter to show a marked drop in revenue from $1,821,399 in the 2012 matching period to $1,576,377 with revenue costs also dropping to $890,544 from $900,613 during those same periods. Gross margins took a significant dip, tumbling to $685,833 from $920,786 in the matching 2012 quarter. After a series of negative numbers, Uniserve comes out with a quarterly operating loss of $331,481, dwarfing 2012's quarterly operating loss of $20,275.

Taseko Mines (T.TKO, StockForum) highlights third quarter results with mining operations earnings, before depletion and amortization, coming in at $19.5 million with cash flow from operations coming in at $12.9 million compared to previous quarter's matching totals of $12.9 million earnings and $7 million cash flow. Q3 revenues were recorded as $66.8 million derived from the sale of 20 million pounds of copper and 110,000 pounds of molybdenum.

Parta Dialogue (V.PAD, StockForum) reveals quarterly numbers. Revenue jumped 16% or $72K from the previous quarter but dropped 17% compared to the matching 2012 quarter. Sales costs dropped 12% and operating expenses also fell 24% since the previous quarter. Books also showed a net loss attributable to shareholders of $845,645 compared to the net loss of $416,000 and $82,930 in the matching quarters of 2012 and 2011 respectively. Sales costs bounced up 43% from $494,182 in the same 2012 quarter to $706,469.

Vista Gold (T.VGZ, StockForum) reports third quarter results with a net loss for the quarter of $3.0 million or $0.04 per share compared to a positive net income of $12.3 million in the matching 2012 quarter. Operating expenses came in at $3.5 million and the company revealed an unrealized $4.5 million mark-to-market gain, while being saddled with a $3.5 million impairment charge on the Colomac mill sale.

Capstone Mining (T.CS, StockForum) files third quarter results, posting a quarterly net loss of $4.6 million compared to a positive listing of $79.3 million in the matching 2012 quarter. Year-to-date figures also performed poorly as YTD revenues came in at $93 million versus $195.2 million for the same period in 2012. Operating cash flow before changes in working capital was $12.7 million. Cash on hand was listed as $457 million for the quarter.



Aurora Oil & Gas (T.AEF, StockForum) releases third quarter results with a 7% bump in revenue from the previous quarter and 68% higher than the matching quarter in 2012. There was a 6% increase in production volume from the last quarter which dwarfed Q3 2012 numbers by 71%. Revenue from oil and gas sales came in at US$144 million – US$105 million after royalties. Quarterly cash balance was listed as US$106 million, backed by a further US$300 million residing in an existing undrawn revolving credit facility. Total quarter capital expenditures, including accruals, amounted to $US$140 million.

Ainsworth (T.ANS, StockForum) highlights Q3 2013 results with stable sales numbers of $144.3 million for the quarter versus the matching 2012 period. US benchmark price dipped 19% and 26% for North Central and Western Canada regions respectively. Adjusted EBITDA dropped to $24.4 million from $37 million recorded Q3 2012, while net income from continuing operations also slipped from $32.5 million in Q3 2012 to $10.7 million.

Lundin Mining (T.LUN, StockForum) puts out third quarter results with reported net earnings of $27.9 million or $0.05 per share for the quarter. Cash flows came to $27.4 million generated from operations, not including $42.2 million cash flows originating from Tenke Fungurume, with year-to-date received cash distributions from Tenke now totaling $110+ million. Even though sales were up to $176.4 million from $159.6 million in Q3 2012, they were down marginally in the nine-month measure to $540.9 million versus $544.6 million in 2012. Operating earnings took a hit in the quarter and the nine-month run with drops of 12.2 million to $58.9 million and $80.8 million to $176.1 million respectively.

Strongco (T.SQP, StockForum) remains strong in third quarter results with total revenues increasing 10.5% to $131.7 million and gross margin growing to $24.2 million versus $22.5 million in 2012's matching quarter. Operating income bumped incrementally from $5.6 million in Q3 2012 to $5.7 million while EBITDA and net income both dipped from Q3 2012 $1.3 million to $13.8 million and $0.4 million to $2 million respectively.

Ecopetrol S.A. (T.ECP, StockForum) releases third quarter results with a net income of COP$3.97 trillion, a 22.1% rise since the previous quarter and 22.4% since Q3 2012. EBITDA jumped 50% in both the quarter and nine month measure. Quarterly average production hit record levels of 800.4 mboed, increasing 7% from Q3 2012 and nine-month numbers were 5.4% higher than the same period in 2012 with 790.7 mboed.

Centerra Gold (T.CG, StockForum) reveals third quarter results with a net loss of $1.4 million or $0.01 per share versus a net loss of $33.7 million or $0.14 per share in the same quarter in 2012. Revenues increased to $155 million for the quarter compared to $68.8 million in Q3 2012. Operations cost $8.5 million cash against the $124.4 million produced by operations over the nine month period ending in September.
