After a couple of down trading days, Canada’s main stock index grew on Thursday thanks to gains in the technology sector.
Investors are betting on more fiscal stimulus coming, after data showed a recovery in the labor market was cooling. This positivity pushed US indexes higher, though mostly flat through Thursday’s market trading.

The Canadian dollar traded for 75.19 cents US compared with 74.97 cents US on Wednesday.
Crude oil prices were down $1.55 to $38.67.
The price of gold was up $17.89 to $1,905.87.
In world markets, the Nikkei was down 0.19 of a point to 23,184.93, the Hang Seng remained at 23,459.05, the FTSE was up 13.38 points to 5,879.45, and the DAX was down 29.89 points to 12,730.77.
