While the energy sector was down, gains in every other sector, especially information technology helped lead Canada’s main stock index higher in Monday trading, while the loonie flew lower against the US dollar.

In world markets, the Nikkei was down 274.28 points to 28,242.21, the Hang Seng was up 291.83 points to 28,862.77, the FTSE was down 15.03 points to 6,720.65, and the DAX was up 60.89 points to 13,848.35.
