Canada's main stock index rallied on Tuesday (December 21) following positive news from Moderna indicating a third dose of its COVID-19 vaccine increases antibodies against the Omicron virus. Higher crude oil prices have also led to the Canadian markets rallying from the previous day.
Meanwhile the Canadian dollar remains at US0.77 cents.

In terms of crude oil prices, the commodity was priced at US$71.80, up 2.85 percent from the previous day, while gold was valued at $1,788.10 per ounce and silver at $22.48.
Looking at world markets, the Nikkei was up 579.78 points to 28,517.59 the Hang Seng was up 226.47 points to 22,971.33, the FTSE was up 99.38 points to 7,297.41 and the DAX was also up 207.77 points to 15,447.44.

The top US indexes were also up on Tuesday following positive news from the White House that it will deploy 1,000 military personnel to hospitals as Omicron cases rise. The White House said that 500 million at-home COVID-19 tests will also be available for Americans to purchase.
