For the second straight session, Canada's main stock index climbed higher into record territory on Tuesday, pushed by gains in the technology sector, as well as a rally among health care, industrial, and financial stocks.
Bank shares gained following rate hike comments from US Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell. Investors have been glued to commodity prices lately, but crude futures seem to have eased off from its recent surge, but still tracked growth on news that the EU was mulling over the idea of banning Russian oil.

The Canadian dollar traded for 79.29 cents US compared with 79.44 cents US on Monday.
Crude oil prices were down 0.18 to $111.90.
The price of gold was down 14.06 to $1,921.54.
In world markets, the Nikkei was up 396.68 points to at 27,224.11, the Hang Seng was up 667.94 points to 21,889.28, the FTSE was up 34.33 points to 7,476.72, and the DAX was up 146.23 points to 14,473.20.
