Canadian stock index futures edged lower Wednesday as market sentiment remained cautious ahead of the Federal Reserve’s January meeting minutes, with traders seeking further clarity on the central bank’s interest rate outlook.

In the Headlines:

The minutes from the Fed’s policy meeting are set for release at 2 p.m. ET with Chair Jerome Powell indicating that they would only cut the rates if inflation and employment data warranted such action.

And Trumps latest tariff threats include auto, semiconductor and pharmaceutical imports all “in the neighbourhood of 25%”

Currencies Update: (Futures)

The Canadian dollar loses steam to the greenback down -0.03% to US$.7040, showing momentum forward against the Euro adding 0.16% $0.6751.

Bitcoin picks up 0.13% to $136,885.00
