Junior miner powers higher on gold assays

TORONTO (SHfn) – Evolving Gold (TSX: V.EVG, Stock Forum) shares surged 17% to $1.17 on Wednesday after the gold junior announced additional assay results from the 2010 core drilling program at its Rattlesnake Hills project in Wyoming, which included 405.4 meters at 1.31 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 50.3 meters at 5.87 g/t gold.

As well, shares of Lounor Exploration (TSX: V.LO, Stock Forum) added 15% at 11.5 cents as the junior explorer reported additional drill results on the Harker Gold Property in the Timmins/Kirkland Lake area of Ontario, which included 14.4 g/t gold over 3.21 metres.

BCGold (TSX: V.BCG, Stock Forum), meanwhile, announced assay results from its second phase of underground diamond drilling at its Engineer Mine gold property west of Atlin, British Columbia. Intercepts averaged 129.0 g/t gold and 121.63 g/t silver over a one metre minimum mining width. BCGold stock popped 27% to 14 cents.

Shares of Goldgroup Mining (TSX: T.GGA, Stock Forum) rose 10% to $1.15 after the junior miner said that, further to its news release dated October 5, 2010, results from the first two reverse circulation drill holes at the Caballo Blanco property in Mexico have encountered gold mineralization, which included 62 metres of 0.44 g/t gold and 4.67 g/t silver.

And, Los Andes Copper (TSX: V.LA, Stock Forum) late Tuesday reported that it and Turnbrook Corporation have signed the share purchase agreement in respect of the consolidation of the Vizcachitas copper-molybdenum property in Chile and concurrent financing, which Los Andes believes will put it in a position to undertake the necessary steps to advance the project towards its ultimate development. Los Andes shares climbed 18% to 30 cents.
