Stocks higher in mid-morning trading Monday

The TSX composite rose 137.62 points to 12,015.34 in mid-morning trading on Monday. The Dow was up 164.77 to 12,753.08, while NASDAQ gained 46.06 to 2,899.19.

Hundreds of people marched around the White House on Sunday, hoping to revive a movement credited with slowing down the permit process for the Keystone XL pipeline.

On Monday, Enbridge Inc. (TSX: T.ENB, Stock Forum) was down 0.08% and was trading at $38.60 a share.

The price of gold jumped US$20.32 to US$1,733.72 an ounce, while silver eased US$0.774 to US$33.04 an ounce.
