EMC Metals Corp. (TSX: T.EMC, Stock Forum) announced promising results from field exploration work on the Tordal property during the summer and fall months of 2012, focused on scandium-bearing pegmatites.

The 2012 work included independent assay results of pegmatite rock samples and an extensive pegmatite mapping program covering approximately 30 kilometres squared on the Tordal property, located in Southern Norway.

According to the EMC Metals press release, the assay results indicated the presence of high levels of scandium and various rare earth elements, including heavy rare earth elements in particular.

The best scandium assays exceeded 1,600 parts per million and overall the program results at Tordal warrant expanded exploration.

EMC is a specialty metals mining group with a focus on developing high-value projects.

On Thursday, EMC was up 18.18% and was trading at $0.065 a share. The company has a market cap of $10.8 million, based on 165.4 million shares outstanding. The 52-week high and low was $0.175 and $0.035 respectively.
