Stornoway Diamond Corp. (TSX: T.SWY, Stock Forum) said Thursday the Quebec Ministry of Transport has successfully completed the construction of a winter road to the Renard diamond project site two weeks ahead of schedule.

The winter road is expected to be open for approximately six weeks and will be used by Stornoway to mobilize heavy equipment required for the construction of the all-season Renard Mine Road

It means the Renard project has become accessible for vehicles for the first time since its discovery in 2001, Stornoway said in a press release.

Trading at 84 cents on Thursday, Stornoway has a market cap of $117.4 million, based on 139.7 million shares outstanding. The 52-week range is $1.03 and 45 cents.

The Renard project is located in the James Bay region of north-central Quebec, 350 kilometres north of Chibougamau.
