MONTREAL - Resolute Forest Products (TSX:T.RFP, Stock Forum) was called upon at its annual meeting Friday to defend its decision to sue the group it contracted to conduct audits of its forestry operations in Northern Ontario.

A company spokesman said CEO Richard Garneau told shareholders that Resolute took the unusual step of suing Rainforest Alliance and obtaining a court order to seal a damning audit because it contains what the company describes as 'biased interpretations, errors and omissions...and a clear conflict of interest.'
