TORONTO _ The Canadian dollar was down more than one-tenth of a U.S. cent before trading opened on North American stock markets.
The loonie traded at 83.19 cents US, down 0.15 of a U.S. cent from Thursday's close.
The Dow Jones industrial futures were up 28 points at 18,230.0, the Nasdaq futures rose 13.70 points to 4,504.0, and the S&P 500 futures advanced 2.4 points to 2,120.0.
On the commodity markets, the June crude contract was down 28 cents at US$59.60 a barrel and the June gold contract fell $10.60 to US$1,214.60 an ounce.
The S&P/TSX composite index closed Thursday at 15,028.12, after rising up 47.40 points.
