TORONTO _ The Canadian dollar is up more than one-tenth of a U.S. cent ahead of the open of trading on North American stock markets.
The loonie traded at 81.91 cents US, up 0.16 of a U.S. cent from Tuesday's close.
The Dow Jones industrial futures were up two points at 18,286.0, the Nasdaq futures rose two points to 4,503.3, and the S&P 500 futures declined 0.5 point to 2,124.1.
On the commodity markets, the July crude contract was up 57 cents at US$58.56 a barrel and the June gold contract rose $2.30 to US$1,209.00 an ounce.
The S&P/TSX composite index closed Tuesday at 15,121.02, after rising 12.90 points.
