TORONTO _ The Canadian dollar was up three-quarters of a U.S. cent ahead of Wednesday's trading on North American stock markets.
The loonie traded at 81.76 cents US, up 0.76 of a U.S. cent from Tuesday's close.
The Dow Jones industrial futures were up 48 points at 17,815.0, the Nasdaq futures rose 10.8 points to 4,442.3, and the S&P 500 futures advanced 6.4 points to 2,086.5.
On the commodity markets, the July crude contract was up $1.47 at US$61.61 a barrel and the August gold contract rose $13.10 to US$1,190.70 an ounce.
The S&P/TSX composite index gained 74.38 points on Tuesday to close at 14,817.71 following drop of nearly 214 points on Monday
