Hydro project moves to next phase

Alaska Hydro Corporation (TSX: V.AKH, OTCQB: ALKHF, Forum) announced today that the B.C. Ministry of Forests Lands and Natural Resources Operations has accepted the Company’s applications for an Investigative License – Waterpower, and a Water License on Forest Kerr Creek.

The application is with respect to the Company’s Forest Kerr Hydro Project located in northwestern British Columbia. The purpose of the application is to obtain the necessary water license and land tenure necessary to construct a hydroelectric storage facility and diversion dam. The diversion is intended to redirect water from Forest Kerr Creek through a tunnel and channel which leads into the More Creek watershed.

The planned Forest Kerr dam will be an earth dam approximately 37 meters in height and 200 meters wide. The estimated construction cost of the project is $35 million. It is intended to increase the energy produced by the More Creek hydroelectric generators by 104 GWh. Further information can be found here.
