Seven Canadian venture-capital firms will receive $50 million in total toward their operations, as part of a program to bolster the country’s tech start-ups.

Under the federal government’s $400-million Venture Capital Catalyst Initiative (VCCI) program, these small-scale financiers and entrepreneurs will receive financing to increase the availability of late stage venture capital.

Seed investor and incubator TandemLaunch announced on Monday that it was once of the companies  chosen to receive a government investment under this program, to be used toward its tech ventures in 2019.

Each of the firms will receive between $5 million to $15 million.
