PDAC 2019 is now officially in the books. With an attendance of 25, 843 people and 130 countries, it still holds the spot as the world’s top mineral exploration and mining showcase.

The event is held in Toronto every year, which is the world’s effective headquarters for mining companies and mining finance. The entire industry descends upon the city for 4 days of speakers, short courses, technical sessions, investment opportunities and unparalleled networking events in the packed halls of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

In addition to the scheduled events, Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a surprise appearance and spoke with PDAC President Glenn Mullan in front of 300 delegates.

The fireside chat centred around the federal government's support of the mineral sector in the Canadian economy, which accounted for C$72 billion, or 3.6%, of Canada's total GDP in 2017. The chat also covered leadership in Indigenous partnerships, responsible exploration, and how the sector can remain competitive on the global stage.

This year the PDAC also added some new programming with the introduction of the Capital Markets Program. Participants learned about market perspectives from investment bankers, portfolio managers and royalty companies as well as information on battery metals, M&A, flow-through shares, and much more.
