WeedMD & Shoppers Finish Cannabis Verification Pilot Phase 1

Two big names in Canadian healthcare have just completed the first phase of a pilot project to authenticate all things medical cannabis.

WeedMD Inc. (TSX-V:WMD), in partnership with Shoppers Drug Mart (TSX: SC), has developed the pilot project using tech from TruTrace Technologies (CSE: TTT) and data from Deloitte Canada LLP. The pilot project is designed to enhance cannabis product testing and verification to confirm origin, authenticity and quality, of strains.

The project is built upon TruTrace’s StrainSecure system and is intended to help protect 40 of WeedMD’s unique registered strains and assist customers, including those for Shoppers Drug Mart, ensure authenticity with strains and products.

Phase 2 of the Pilot Project is scheduled to be complete by late November 2019.
