Smoking is one of the toughest habits to kick, if not the most challenging, and the numbers reflect just how serious of a problem this is.

It is estimated that eight million people die every year from tobacco-related issues and data from the Center for Disease Click to enlargeControl (CDC) found that more than half of adult smokers (68%) said in 2015 that they wanted to quit smoking. In 2018, 55.1% of smokers stated they had tried to quit in the past year, but the number of those who were successful was only 7.5%.

Most people try to quit smoking through nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and while that does double a smoker’s chance of quitting, it does nothing to satisfy those crippling cravings or withdrawal symptoms that keeps smokers crawling back.

However, there are alternative sources for smokers to reclaim their health and early-stage life sciences Company TAAT Lifestyle & Wellness Brands (CSE: TAAT, OTC: MOLOF, Forum) has an offering that should be of interest to anyone, even if you’ve never held a cigarette between your fingers.

TAAT is preparing to launch its flagship tobacco and nicotine-free alternative to traditional tobacco cigarette brand - Taat Herb Co. – Beyond Tobacco.

It has been a project close to TAAT founder Joe Deighan, who stated in the news release for investors that tobacco-flavoured cigarettes with cannabidiol (CBD) can make a significant difference in helping people to quit smoking.

“I can understand the complexity of tobacco addiction both from the perspective of being a former smoker myself, and from the perspective of creating vapourizer liquid using proprietary formulas that proved wildly popular in the U.S. and internationally. By replicating every aspect of the experience of smoking tobacco cigarettes, Taat hemp cigarettes are designed to potentially provide a seamless transition from tobacco in a manner that does not feel like a transition at all. What users expose their body to changes, but the habitual motions and sensations stay the same. Reception of Taat hemp cigarettes by test subjects has been excellent, and we look forward to bringing this better-for-you tobacco alternative to the mainstream market as we align ourselves to take on the USD $814 billion tobacco industry.”

The products are already on the move. In early July 2020, the Company has obtained its first US distribution deal with Dallas-based Worldwide Vape, who plans to distribute Taat Beyond Tobacco cigarettes in its tobacco and menthol varieties. WWV is one of the largest Texas-based wholesalers of vaping products, representing more than 100 brands.

The state of Texas is considered “ground zero” in this tobacco epidemic and has been under the watchful eye of the CDC for some time. TAAT believes that with WWV, they can carve out a substantial presence in this potentially key market to become early adopters of Taat Beyond Tobacco cigarettes. There is even potential possibly to add other markets in which WWV does business as a distributor.

Joe Deighan noted that WWV is a key partner for TAAT to establish its brand in the US, since it has a deep presence and reach in the tobacco cigarette alternatives category, especially in Texas.

“Because WWV offers such a carefully-curated selection of premium vaping products, we consider their confidence in Taat Beyond Tobacco cigarettes to be a vote of confidence in our early-stage product, and we look forward to working with WWV to build our momentum as we seek to position ourselves in the tobacco industry.”

As smokers have long struggled to find a solution to quitting smoking, WWV’s Chief Executive Officer, Muhammad Abbas believes that vaping can help consumers make a positive change. While it has been the means around which WWV has built its business upon, he admits that many smokers cannot adapt to vaping because of how different it is.

“TAAT has addressed this by developing a ‘stick’ product that mimics a cigarette which is designed to deliver a substantially similar smoking experience. We are excited to offer Taat Beyond Tobacco cigarettes in both the tobacco and menthol varieties to our customers and retail partners as we expand our product offerings to include the latest and greatest innovations in alternatives to tobacco cigarettes.”

The news on this deal also has further info for investors around data gathered by the Beckley / Exeter research program. Carried out of the University of Exeter, this pilot study that found after several weeks following CBD treatment, tobacco smokers were able reduce the number of cigarettes smoked by as much as 40%. A follow-up study is planned, which will include a brain imaging component to examine the brain activity patterns underlying the probable therapeutic effects of CBD.

Investors will want to keep TAAT Lifestyle & Wellness Brands on their radar as the Company finalizes its go-to-market plan, which includes a large-scale test sampling of Taat hemp cigarettes on a trial basis in retail storefronts throughout Nevada, as well as relationships with more retail and distribution partners to establish initial points of sale for Taat hemp cigarettes.

Come Q4 2020, TAAT intends to launch its hemp cigarette line and will utilize online channels to facilitate sales, followed by retail stores in select markets across the United States.
