We are less than one week away from PDAC 2025, the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada’s yearly convention, which brings together over 25,000 attendees from over 135 countries to deliver and garner insights on the state of the mining industry.

Exhibits and programming

Slated for March 2-5 at Toronto’s Metro Convention Centre, the convention aims to deliver on PDAC’s role of supporting a competitive, responsible and sustainable mining sector with a schedule that leaves no stone unturned, including the ever-popular Investors Exchange, Trade Show and Core Shack exhibits, and a diverse programming lineup including but not limited to:

  • A student and early career program featuring mining professionals from around the world.
  • An Indigenous program with an over two-decade track record of networking with communities and leaders.
  • Sustainability talks, including Human rights due diligence in mining sector procurement, as well as Unlocking natural capital value and a nature-positive minerals industry.
  • Technical presentations, including sessions on deep-sea mining, rare earth elements and other critical metals.
  • Keynote speakers, highlighted by billionaire mining investor, Eric Sprott, who will be delivering his industry outlook, and chief executive officer of BHP, Mike Henry, who will deliver his commodities outlook.
  • A corporate presentation forum, where top explorers and developers delineate their potential for investors.

Attendees can also deepen their due diligence at a series of networking events designed to build connections with mining industry leaders, as well as through the Investment Leaders Forum, where top newsletter writers and other professionals who inform investment decisions shed light on their mining industry forecasts and most prospective companies.

Mining companies to look out for

While there are hundreds of miners with attractive value propositions represented at PDAC 2025, it’s worth highlighting a choice few, if only to nudge readers in the direction of high-quality projects and untapped upside. Here are five names to consider:

  • American Eagle Gold (TSXV:AE), whose NAK project in British Columbia has the potential to develop a multi-billion-ton copper and gold porphyry deposit.
  • McEwen Mining (NYSE:MUX), a gold and silver producer and copper developer with a portfolio that includes the 8th largest undeveloped copper project in the world. The company is led by chairman Rob McEwen, the founder of Goldcorp, which he took from a market capitalization of $50 million to over $8 billion.
  • F3 Uranium (TSXV:FUU), whose JR discovery on its PLN property in Saskatchewan boasts a 156-metre strike length and a track record of high-grade results that dates back to the initial discovery in fall 2022. The most recent intercept from December 2024 yielded 7.5 metres of 30.9 per cent U3O8, including 4.5 metres of 50.1 per cent U3O8.
  • E3 Lithium (TSXV:ETL), which is developing one of the largest measured and indicated lithium resources in Canada at 16.2 million tons.
  • Calibre Mining (TSX:CXB), a mid-tier gold producer that recently merged with Equinox Gold (TSX:EQX) to form a major producer, holding the potential for more than 1.2 million ounces annually across five countries in the Americas.

From explorers, to developers, to producers, there are insights to be gained across the value chain to inform your next growth initiative or portfolio allocation.

The TL;DR on PDAC 2025

As gold hovers around all-time-highs because of currency devaluation and increased geopolitical tension, critical resources like copper, uranium, nickel and lithium find themselves at the beginning of a multi-decade sustainability tailwind, and mining stocks seem poised to reflect gains in their target commodities, PDAC’s wealth of investment opportunities and catalysts to put your due diligence into high gear are as essential as they’ve ever been.
