Lighting Science Awarded Two Product Innovation Awards by Architectural SSL magazine

Atlanta Botanical Gardens Custom Application and Definity MR 16 High Output LED Lamp Both Recognized

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla., March 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Lighting Science Group Corporation® (OTCQB: LSCG), one of the world's leading LED lighting technology companies, received two awards, one for the Most Creative Use of Color and one for Retrofit Lamp Sources, in Architectural SSL magazine's third annual Product Innovation Awards (PIA) competition.

Lighting Science was recognized for its work on the Atlanta Botanical Gardens custom lighting project. Designed in collaboration with Tres Fromme, landscape designer, each of the Lighting Science LED luminaires uses a mere 10 watts of energy while boasting the capacity to cast over 16 million distinctive color shades. The color-changing innovative orbs and teardrop sculptures span over 8 feet tall and respond intuitively to a programmed soundtrack.

The Lighting Science Definity™ MR16 LED High Output LED Lamp was named in the Best Track Lighting, General Ambient in the Retrofit Sources category.  The Definity LED MR 16 lamp delivers uncompromising performance with marked energy savings. The long lasting, Definity LED lamp series is environmentally friendly and lasts more than 20 years in a residential or commercial application.

"We are extremely pleased to be recognized for both our groundbreaking creative work with the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and our innovative product development with our Definity LED MR 16 lamp line," said Jeremy Cage, CEO for Lighting Science. ""We believe its projects and solutions like these that really set Lighting Science apart for both our customers."

According to Jim Crockett, Editorial Director for Architectural SSL magazine, "The applications represent designers taking advantage of LED's discreet form, directionality and ability to add color and dynamism in an energy efficient way."

A formal award presentation of the SSL PIA trophy will be held at the Lightfair from 10:00 to10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23 at the Architectural SSL booth (#4514).
