Nautilus Employees In Training to Get Down and Dirty with Tough Mudder 2013

May 16, 2013: Nautilus, Inc. (NYSE: NLS), a leader in innovative home fitness equipment, today announced they are sending over more than 30 employees as participants in the ultimate fitness and teamwork challenge, Tough Mudder 2013. The event takes place in Fossil, Oregon on June 15 and 16, 2013.

Tough Mudder is a 10 to 12 mile extreme obstacle course designed by British Special Forces to test brave participants’ strength, stamina, mental determination, and camaraderie. Participants endure hills, mud, water, ropes, walls, electric shocks, and fire as they battle to the end of the course. More than 700,000 people worldwide have put themselves to the test, raising more than $5 million for the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). The Project works to raise awareness to help thousands of injured service men and women and provides assistance to their families.

“This opportunity to raise much needed funds for The Wounded Warrior Project, combined with the benefits of employees training together truly reflects our corporate culture and the philosophy we practice,” said Bruce Cazenave, CEO of Nautilus. “No one crosses the finish line alone and I am proud of our employees for challenging themselves physically in this extreme obstacle course in support of such a worthy cause.”

The Nautilus employees participating in Tough Mudder, known as “The Mud Squad”, began training together in January. But this is no ordinary race, and the team’s extensive training regimen reflects that. In addition to regular workouts at Nautilus in the company gym, The Mud Squad can be found pushing cars, rock climbing and conquering adult jungle gyms.

“As a father of three and entering my 40’s, I was looking for a new way to challenge myself both physically and mentally,” said Phillip Trost, direct sales analyst for Nautilus. “It’s a unique opportunity to get to work out with co-workers and help them achieve their goals while I’m achieving mine. And it feels good to help raise money for this project.”

The teams see the race not as a competition but a teamwork challenge to get every single member across the finish line.
