"We were very pleased to partner with City Year and our sister company NTT Com to once again give back to the local New York area community," said Denise Messineo, head of Human Resources for Dimension Data Americas. "Our corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, Heads, Hearts and Hands, spans the breadth of our global business, involving 51 countries in five regions. This day of service allowed us to help Harlem Grown, and provided employees in New York City – our U.S. headquarters – with a fantastic opportunity to give back."
Harlem Grown is an independent, non-profit organization that partners with the New York City Parks Department and Department of Education and a variety of food advocacy and community agriculture organizations. The main function of Harlem Grown is to connect local public schools to the greater community through the use of common garden spaces and mutually engaging activities.
Dimension Data's Heads, Hearts and Hands program enables the company to share resources globally and work together with employees across three main areas: social issues, environmental issues, and ethics and governance. As part of the program, Dimension Data employees receive eight hours of paid time off annually to give back to the charities of their choice. Every year, across the Americas, the company's employees participate in hundreds of CSR initiatives with organizations such as the MS Society, Habitat for Humanity, and the Ronald McDonald House. Worldwide, Dimension Data participates in more than 500 initiatives every year.
NTT Com's CSR priority areas are contributing to society, protecting the environment, respecting employees, and corporate governance. In the United States, NTT Com maintains a strong dedication to societal contributions. As part of its commitment to community beautification, for the second year in a row, NTT Com joined Dimension Data for this day of service with City Year New York.
